# What science is going on in the world? # What science is going on in the world The goal of this project is straightforward: create a list of all the publicly known research groups and what they’re working on. Labs could be thought of as the basic unit of organization in science - similar to how companies are a unit of organization in business. It may be shocking to realize, but there is no single list which research labs are working on what subject and who runs them, even at a university level, let alone a country or global level. There is so much useful communication and analyses that would be unlocked by having this data. The challenge of this project is to hunt down each lab’s information and figure out who is there and what broadly they’re working on.
