# Trusted Hierarchies are one way that centralized coordination can happen
Trusted hierarchies are one way to structure centralized coordination. Trusted hierarchies and centralized coordination are coupled but not the same. Specifically, centralized coordination is the verb and trusted hierarchies are the noun performs the verb. Of course, [[Organizations don’t do anything, people in organizations do things]]
In fact, [[Trusted hierarchies are not always the best way to do centralized coordination]]. Other structures that can enable centralized coordination include algorithms, committees, or pure democratic forums like in Athens. Each of these methods have strengths and weaknesses.
