# Things we implicitly believe The idea behind this list is that we have a lot of implicit assumptions about how the world works. Most of them will be true for our whole lives, but physical technology can sometimes change them. It used to be that “nobody can move faster than a sprinting horse” etc - If you go outside when it’s raining you’ll get wet - Hot things burn you - If you eat too much you’ll get fat - Things always fall down <!-- #list --> [Web URL for this note](http://notes.benjaminreinhardt.com/Things+we+implicitly+believe) [Comment on this note](http://via.hypothes.is/http://notes.benjaminreinhardt.com/Things+we+implicitly+believe) <!-- {BearID:9F607777-0F01-4F19-902E-B5364B9FFACD-99819-00020AEB59CF55CC} -->
