# The trust in trusted hierarchies manifests as delegation and communication
People higher in the hierarchy need to trust that responsibility they delegate will be taken care of. People lower in the hierarchy need to trust that people higher in the hierarchy are taking care of everything else.
In the [[Sponsor, owner, brief framework]], the sponsor needs to trust that the brief will be followed and the owner needs to trust that the brief is complete.
People bypass the hierarchy when they no longer trust it. When the hierarchy metastasizes this can be helpful, but when the hierarchy is functioning it ends up distracting people because [[It takes a lot of bandwidth to pay attention to decentralized efforts]]. [[Vannevar bush used the term ‘Tyro’ to refer to someone who mucks up a system by breaking hierarchy]].
