# The Media Lab has Two kinds of IP The [[Media Lab]] produces two kinds of IP 1. Non-exclusive licenses accessible by anybody in their consortia 2. Exclusive licenses for clinical inventions Basically they create exclusive licenses for industries where IP arguably makes sense. [[In most industries outside of pharma and chemicals, patents are a net drag on innovation]]. Of course, it’s not obvious how much revenue this produces vs. other sources.
