# Successful approaches to designed serendipity focus on small information quanta
* Wikipedia you can change a single line
* In open source software you can do something useful by changing a single line of code
* One of the [[Polymath Project]]’s principles was that comments should be as short as possible.
This is the principle behind [[Micropublications: a Semantic Model for Claims, Evidence, Arguments and Annotations in BIomedical Communications]] and [[Polyplexus]] and why Alex Danco asks [[Can Twitter Save Science?]]
However, small information quanta is not sufficient. Small information quanta cannot hold very much context. Therefore the *interfaces* between and *discoverability* of the quanta are important. [[Polyplexus]] does a terrible job of this.
