# Randomized funding still requires trust and legibility
I would assert that still fits the model that [[The two ways to enable action is through legibility and trust]]: pragmatically, random funding will not be open to all comers — otherwise it is literally just randomly giving money to random people. People applying for the random grant will need to be part of an institution or otherwise pass through some filter which will require legibility or trust.
Additionally, the larger the sums that are being awarded, the more tight those filters on who applies for the random funding will be because otherwise the more money that is up for grabs the worse the pool of applicants will become. Of course, the filters on random funding might demand *less* legibility or trust than many other mechanisms and it still can support inherently illegible activities <[[Many knowledge generating activities are inherently illegbile]]>.
