# People time is important when there is a clear critical path There’s a fairly common refrain that it’s engineering when you can just pour money into it. (This is also what I have called a [[Little h hard problems need a bunch of engineering effort but no breakthroughs]]). That means that you are bound by *people time* and if you can pay more people to spend more time on it, it will go faster. In order to do this, you need a clear idea of what inputs lead to what outputs — in other words, a [[Critical path]]. However, there are many things (when there’s high uncertainty) where you can’t just *go faster* ### Related * [[raoGUTSGrandUnified2018]] * [[Little h hard problems need a bunch of engineering effort but no breakthroughs]] * [[Big H hard problems are those that need a discovery to solve]] [Web URL for this note](http://notes.benjaminreinhardt.com/People+time+is+important+when+there+is+a+clear+critical+path) [Comment on this note](http://via.hypothes.is/http://notes.benjaminreinhardt.com/People+time+is+important+when+there+is+a+clear+critical+path)
