# Federally funded research and development centers - FFRDC
Public-private partnerships (do these need to be non profits) that conduct research for US government (only US government?)
Each FFRDC has a an administrator organization and one or more sponsoring organization
FFRDC administrators can be:
* Industrial Firms
* Non-university non profits
* Universities
FFRDCs
There are a number of FFRDCs that are “phased out” - for example, Mound Laboratories (which was managed by Monsanto (wut? I guess it makes sense - managing a nuclear lab makes it easy to pivot to radiation-driven GMOs) ) what does this entail?
[[How many of the employees at FFRDCs places are doing research?]]
[[What are the advantages to aggregating research in FFRDCs?]]
[[How is the research agenda set at FFRDCs?]]
