Credit actually matters a lot because its the difference between someone writing a blog on the side and getting to do it as their job

This stands at odds with the idea that as long as the work is done or the discovery is made, it doesn’t matter who gets the credit. However, this only works if nobody gets credit. If it is possible to get credit and credit is not assigned correctly many people will either not play the game or spend a lot of effort making sure they get credit instead of doing the work.
