# Commercialization has very high transaction costs * Finding the people who have the right criteria is hard. They need to * have done research that’s at the correct TRL * want to do the work to spin it out * be in a position to spin it out (ie. Tech transfer office is friendly) * Away from the coasts there are fewer or zero lawyers and accountants who are used to working with startups * This makes it so there less network lubricant for due diligence so it has higher transactions costs. [[The best due diligence is network based]] * Fewer or zero infrastructure people * In places where it’s not in the culture people just don’t know what the fuck they’re doing around commercialization ### Thoughts * Could something like [[Polyplexus]] be used to lower transaction costs? <!-- #evergreen --> [Web URL for this note](http://notes.benjaminreinhardt.com/Commercialization+has+very+high+transaction+costs) [Comment on this note](http://via.hypothes.is/http://notes.benjaminreinhardt.com/Commercialization+has+very+high+transaction+costs)
