# Accept invitations in public and decline them in private People are mimetic creatures! If you see a bunch of people declining an invitation to do something, your brain automatically starts seeing the event as something low status or impossible. Similarly, if it sees lots of people accepting but very few people declining, it will conclude that it must be a high status awesome thing. Thus, if you want someone’s event to seem high status and awesome, only accept invitations publicly.
